How do I want people to know us PhRMA s president, Alan Holmer, asked rhetorically at the trade group s annual meeting in 2002. He answered himself By the essence of who we are our legions of doctors, scientists and researchers dedicated to the defeat of disease and the celebration of life. Oh, and by the way, we also make money for our shareholders by manufacturing pills. 

The cost of drugs is almost invariably held up as being too high. It is a brave or foolhardy person who says The U.S. should spend more, not less, on prescription drugs, which is what PhRMA s president Dr. Alan F.
