Hlasiwetz, Heinrich

Hlasiwetz, Heinrich, a prominent Austrian organic chemist, was born in Liberec (Reichenberg) in Bohemia, studied in Prague and Vienna, was professor of chemistry at the University of Innsbruck since 1854 and at the Technische Hochschule in Vieima since 1867. He was one of the founders of the Chemisch-physikalische Gesellschaft (Chemical-Physical Society). For his biography see e.g. Lexikon (1988), 206 see also Rosner (2004), 250-253. [Pg.59]

In 1869 the Chemisch-Physikalische Gesellschaft (CPG, Chemical-Physical Society) was founded by the chemist Heinrich Hlasiwetz and the physicists Josef Loschmidt, Josef Petzval and Josef Stefan.
