High-level waste, historical

Historically the HI and its precursors, have mainly been applied to Intermediate and High Level Waste (ILW and HLW). The HI can be applied to Low Level Waste (LLW) and large decommissioning areas such as rubble, steelwork and contaminated land. As UK LLW is routinely disposed of to Drigg, the value for LLW is in predicting the hazard retained on a site that is yet to be fully decommissioned. [Pg.127]
