Transverse and T type fractures are caused by high energy shearing forces. With transverse injuries, the fracture line traverses across the acetabulum in an axial or oblique orientation, dividing into upper and lower halves. The T type consists of a transverse fracture with a vertical component, the posterior column thus becomes a detached loose fragment.
