Hennig diagram

Hennig did not try to construct tree-like diagrams with unordered or unpolarized characters. Unrooted topologies do not show the evolution of characters, but they may contain partitions of taxa that reflect real shared properties of organisms and therefore are informative. 

Patterson s taxic homology (1982) is represented in one of Hennig s early diagrams (Figure 9.8). 

Figure 7.11 shows as an example Mohr s diagram for the Muderong shale, a relatively weak material with a cohesive strength of 2.75 MPa and a friction coefficient of 0.34. The envelope delivers the equation (Dewhurst and Hennig, 2003) ...
