Schema healing

The final two levels in the model (Figure 12.1) relate to the concepts of schema perpetuation and schema healing. These are central to the model, and schema healing or weakening of an EMS is ultimately the aim of therapy. However, schema perpetuation prevents this from happening.

Work experiences are discussed in relation to how they personally impact upon members of the group. Such occupation-based psychotherapy also appears to be effective in bringing EMS into awareness and hence allowing schema healing to take place more readily.
