HAZCOM and Hazard Analysis

OSHA (29CFR1910.1200) requires that hazards from all materials produced or imported to the plant be evaluated and that this hazard information be disseminated to all affected personnel. This should include not only plant personnel but also employees of outside contractors. By the same token, the outside contractor must communicate in advance the hazards from materials imported to the site during the execution of the contractor s services. The use of MSDS and labeling for hazard communication is described in Chapter 2. [Pg.233]

Before any plant modification or installation of a new process system, the plant must perform a study to identify the hazards that could result from this installation. Section 4.4.2 discusses management of change. The outside contractor can be invited to contribute to this study and to the hazard analysis. Section 7.1.1 mentions some of the various approaches to hazard analysis. [Pg.234]
