Once again Norwegian commando Knut Haukelid was called on to destroy the heavy water. Haukelid conceived a plan to blow up a ferry carrying the barrels as the boat crossed Lake Tinnsji in Norway. Haukelid was able to plant explosives on the ferry. On February 20, 1944, as the ferry reached the middle of the lake, a timer activated the explosives, blowing a hole in the hull. [Pg.53]
