Glutathione sulfur transport

Testis The four animals (Table 10) showed high concentrations of taurine, with an exceptionally high value In the squid. The hypotaurlne occurred In a much lower concentration with considerable variation among the animals. The other sulfur amino acids were present In variable low concentrations with a high methionine value In the blue crab testis. Glutathione, In contrast to the rodents, was not detected or was at low concentration. This, however, may be due to loss In transportation In spite of the short period and the frozen (dry Ice) state of the testes. 

Glutathione is the major form in which organic sulfur is transported in plants in the phloem (Section III,B). At present it is not clearly established whether phloem transport of organic sulfur as glutathione is quantitatively important or essential for fulfilling the sulfur requirements of nonphotosynthetic cells of...
