General rate laws for simple thermal reactions

7 General rate laws for simple thermal reactions [Pg.55]

The differential equation of the overall thermal reaction can be expressed for an elementary reaction by [Pg.55]

Under these conditions the parameters r = 1 and fij = v,- have to be inserted into eq. (2.15). In general eq. (2.22) allows more complicated reaction schemes to be described, and Pi need not be an integer (see Section 3.1.7). The exponents Pi show the order with respect to the different reactants, p/, is the order of the reaction with respect to A, pg with respect to B and so on. A summation over all these orders results in the total order of the reaction [Pg.55]

List of symbols used in the following chapters, the derivatives with respect to time of the degree of advancement (xj) have to be handled in the same way [Pg.56]

Vector of concentrations of selected reactants taking part in the reaction scheme, reduction with respect to conservation of mass considered (changes in the concentrations) [Pg.56]
