Gel Electrophoresis in CE

The principle for gel electrophoresis is described in Section 6.3. The separation medium consists of an electrolyte solution in a gel. Performing CE in a gel-fiDed capillary has been found to be difficult, for example, because of the need to keep the whole gel moisturized all the time. The lifetime of gel-fiDed capillaries is also limited and, therefore, not much in use anymore. 

Only electroldnetic injection can be performed, and UV detection at low wavelength cannot be used because of the gel.
