Gaussian distribution of sweep

The simulations assuming a Gaussian distribution of sweep flow are based on mass balances for each fibre in the module. Key assumptions in the theoretical analysis are as follows. 

4 The lumen pressure drop is described by the Hagen-Poiseuille equation for compressible flows. 

5 Mass transfer by axial diffusion is small relative to axial convection. 

7 The properties of a given fibre do not vary along its length. However, properties may vary from fibre to fibre. 

8 Lumen-side mass transfer coefficients are calculated using the Leveque correlation and shell-side mass transfer coefficients are calculated using the Donohue correlation.
