Ref Cook (1958), 194-95 Note There are several varieties of Air-Gap Tests, some of which were described in Vol 1 of Encycl, pp XIV-XV. Addnl refs are given under Detonation by Influence... [Pg.139]

GAP TESTS. A general name for several tests used for determination of sympathetic detonation. They include Bur of Mines tests "Halved-Cartridge Method (Vol 1, p XIV), French "Coefficient de self-excitation ... [Pg.303]

Halved-Cartridge Gap Method. See Vol 1 of this Encycl, p XIV, under Gap Test and Ref 18, p 194-R... [Pg.399]

Whole-Cartridge Sensitivity Test. It is a gap test in which two whole cartridges, l-l/4x8 inches, are wrapped in paper with a gap of distance 8 between the end crimps of the original shell which face each other across the air gap (Ref 18, p 194-R). Compare with the test described in Ref 13, p 68 in Vol 1 of Encycl, p XIV under "Gap Test . See also "Halved-Cartridge Gap Method ... [Pg.399]

The gap test or halved cartridge test is described in Vol 1, pp XIV XV. Examples of the gap sensitivity (inches of air across which detonation is transmitted from donor to acceptor) are given below for US dynamites (Ref 6). Also see Vol 5, pp D1591 D1737 (Table 5)... [Pg.363]

Coefficient de self-excitation (CSE) (See Vol 1, p XIV, under Gap Test) - 3 explns out of 3 trials at 10cm distance betw cartridges and 3 failures in 3 trials at 12cm distance for chge at d 0.85/cc vs mean distances of 21cm for RDX at d 1.20g/cc,... [Pg.414]
