TLC on silica gel G has been useful particularly in the organic synthesis of amino sugars for the characterization of derivatives which are not readily detected on paper. It has found application in the synthesis of 4-acetamido-4-deoxy-D- reofuranose [41], 2,6-diamino-2, 6-dideoxy-D-mannose dihydrochloride [42], 2,3-epimino-hexopyranosides [43], 2-amino-2,6-dideoxy-D-galactose [44], the l-O-acyl-2-acylamido-... 

Diamino-4,6-dideoxy-D-galactose as a free base forms the 1,6-anhydro-furanose analogue (33), and its di-A -acetyl derivative exhibited the expected rotamers about the iV-acyl bond. ... 

Pseudo-3-amino-3-deoxy-DL-hexopyranoses have been synthesized by the nitromethane cyclization procedure from pseudo-of-galactose, the gluco isomer predominating the -isomer reacted less selectively. The same starting material has been used to prepare pseudo derivatives of 4-amino-4-deoxy, 4,7-diamino-4,7-dideoxy, and 4-amino-4,7-dideoxy-of-DL-glucopyranose by standard reactions.
