Gadopentetate dimeglumine (1 ml mixed with 4 ml of 5% saline) has been used in myelocisternography in four patients (aged 28-62 years) to demonstrate the exact site of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage in patients with CSF rhinorrhea (20). All tolerated the examination without adverse effects or complications. [Pg.1472]

In a retrospective case series of 36 patients exposed to gadopentetate dimeglumine, there was a dose- and time-related relation to nephrogenic systemic fibrosis in patients with chronic kidney disease, all but one of whom were on dialysis. They had been exposed to median cumulative volumes of gadopentetate dimeglumine of 35, 40, 85, and 117.5 ml over 3, 12, and 24 months and up to 11 years before onset. Those who received higher cumulative and total doses had a higher risk than those who received lower doses (OR=1.2). In 20 patients who died, there was a median interval of 18 months between the onset of symptoms and death [33]. [Pg.756]
