Branched terthiophene 5.77 was synthesized by Kumada-type cross-coupling of the Grignard reagent of 2-bromo-5-TMS-thiophene and 2,3-dibromothiophene in 79% yield. Higher generation DOTs were 

2-isopropyloxy-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (iv) Pd2dba3 CHCl3/HP(t-Bu)3BF4/K3F 4/THF (v) BU4NF/THF.
