From organometallic reagents

Organomercury compounds are also sources of alkyl radicals. Organomercurials can be prepared either by solvomercuration (Section 4.3) or from organometallic reagents (Section 7.3.3). 

The ff-adducts are obtained with the hydride ion under conditions similar to those derived from organometallic reagents and may therefore involve strong association or covalent bonding with the metal ions in much the same way (see initial statement regarding structural formulas in Section II, D,2,a). 

Carbanions derived from organometallic reagents react with aryldiazoalkanes diazoketones and diazoesters to yield hydrazones after hydrolysis (7). 

Symmetrical tertiary alcohols are best prepared from organometallic reagents and ethyl carbonate, (CjH50)2C0 (cf. method 312)l ... 

Substituted vinylsilanes such as ,Z-RCH=CHSiR 3 and R(SiR 3)C=CH2 are a class of organosilicon compounds commonly used in organic synthesis. Many efficient stereo- and regio-selective methodologies for the synthesis of substituted vinylsilanes involving classical stoichiometric routes from organometallic reagents and, more recently, transition metal-catalyzed transformations of alkynes, silylalkynes, alkenes, and simple vinylsilanes have been reported [1-3]. 

As already noted above, thiols, produced by nucelophiUc substitution or from organometallic reagents, can be converted to thioethers by a second nucleophilic substitution reaction.These sulfides, on alkylation,produce sulfonium salts (Equation 8.65), which can be used or further alkylation reactions (e.g., see SAM Figure 8.24).
