Due to plasma treatment the radicals (R, free spin) are generated on polymer chain. Not only C-H but also C-C bonds are likely to brake, the later leading to fragmentation of polymer chain. The radical concentration determined by EPR method is in Table 3. The concentration of free radicals R decreases during the aging to about quarter of the initial after 80 days. The decrease of R is a result of radical recombination [h]. Detailed comment of EPR observation ( aging of radicals) is described too [79]. [Pg.32]

Comment. In this example we see that two distinct zones are present. Situations may be encountered where even another zone may be present. For example, if the entering liquid contains insufficient reactant, a point is reached in the tower where all this reactant is consumed. Below this point physical absorption alone takes place in reactant-free liquid. The methods of these examples, when used together, deal in a straightforward manner with this three-zone situation and van Krevelens and Hoftijzer (1948) discuss actual situations where these three distinct zones are present. [Pg.558]

Molecular simulations are used most often for modeling proteins and nucleic acids. We mention the methods here only because they are methods for computing a free energy directly. However, they are rather complex calculations, so we will keep our comments brief. Molecular dynamics simulations give information about the variation in structure and energy of a molecule over an interval of time (78,79). In MD, each atom moves according to Newton s equations of motion for classical particles ... [Pg.373]

Comments This method could obviously be applied to other than just metallic powders but the necessary pre-requisite is that the powder is free-flowing so that it will flow through the specified 2.5 mm or 5 mm orifice. The density measured is the bulk density of the material as poured under the specified conditions, and this will probably be lower than other bulk densities like the tap density. [Pg.86]
