Formulations enteral/oral dose forms

Enteric-coated formulations dissolve in the duodenum a 250-mg dose produces a peak serum level of about 1 pg/ml [14]. Food in the stomach decreases absorption of the drug, except for the estolate form [15, 16]. The normal serum half-life of erythromycin is approximately 2 hr [17], and serum levels are maintained for 6 hr. The recommended orally administered dosage of erythromycin is 250 mg to 1 g every 6 hr. [Pg.330]
