Formation of the Usual Aldehyde Derivatives

2-Amino-3-formylpyrazine in boron trifluoride-methanol complex at room temperature gave 2-amino-3-dimethoxymethylpyrazine (1075), and 2-amino- 

2- (isonicotinoylhydrazonomethyl)pyrazine (1201), and similar derivatives were prepared with nicotinoylhydrazine and picolinoylhydrazine (1201). 2-Formyl-3-methylpyrazine formed a Schiff base with ethyl p-aminobenzoate (1185), and this was reduced by sodium borohydride to 2-(p-ethoxycarbonylphenylaminomethyl)-
