Indeed, rather than to deliver anticancer drugs in targeted areas with CNTs complex guiding, CNTs can also be functionalized to have active physical properties for therapeutic applications. For example, CNTs functionalized with folic acid can bind to cancer cells and kill these cells by using infrared radiation to induce vibration, forming cellular bombs [55]. Similar research has been carried out in other studies [56]. A 2005 study by Kam et al. [57] showing selective cancer cell killing obtained by hyperthermia due to the thermal conductivity of CNTs internalized into those cells.
