Depending on the whole-mount specimen, fine forceps or needles can be nsed to arrange the specimen so that tissue is not folded prior to applying the top cover-slip. Two coverslips, rather than a slide and coverslip, are used so that both sides of the whole-mount may be examined. 

Obtain a filter and fold it in half three times. It will look like a 45-degree segment of a circle. Insert the forceps 1 cm inside the folded filter and hold them tight to prevent the filter from unfolding. The tips of the forceps are inside the filter and are not exposed. 

Place this hank in a fold of paper or a test-tube so that a bundle of fibers 2—3 cm long protrudes from the end. Place the paper fold or test-tube flat on the light box so that individual fibers may be teased from the protruding bundle and withdrawn using plastic-tipped forceps (see Note 3). 

Watchmaker s forceps may be straight or curved to the individual s preference. Curved forceps are handy for the release of the membrane when folded under the ring and in tricky situations. 

With fine forceps, woik carefully to fold the cut edges of the vitelline membrane over the edge of the ring, all the way around its circumference (Fig. 2F). Do not... 

Using forceps, grip a small fold of the skin and lift away from the body a small distance (not enough to move the mouse).

Accurately to within 0.02 mg weigh out 2 to 4 mg of a homogeneous test specimen taken according to Practices D 4057 or D 4177, into the vial. Pinch the center of the vial with a forceps and fold it in half. Flatten the vial with the tweezers, and fold the vial in thirds.
