Flux, for solder

Used industrially as a catalyst in organic synthesis, to protect molten magnesium and its alloys from oxidation, as a flux for soldering magnesium manufacture of specialty electronics as a fumigant and in ionization chambers for detection of weak neutrons. [Pg.343]

Uses. In catalysis with and without promoting agents fumigant flux for soldering magnesium... [Pg.89]

Dibasic ammonium phosphate is used as a fertilizer as a fire extinguisher a flame retardant for plywood, papers, and fabrics to prevent afterglow in matches in purifying sugar as a flux for soldering tin, copper, zinc and brass and to control precipitation of alkah-soluble or acid-insoluble coUoidal dyes on wool. [Pg.42]

Finally, steps can also be taken to prevent the contaminant from ever entering the process. For example, the development of low-solids no clean rosin fluxes for soldering printed circuit boards completely eliminates the need for a cleaning process (Sapre, 1990). [Pg.231]

The name borax is derived from the Persian word borak, meaning white. Humans have used it for centuries. The Egyptians used borax as a flux for soldering, and this is still one of the more important uses for it. Borax was probably first imported to Europe by Marco Polo around 1300, and it was used in trade for many years afterward. However, borax was not used extensively until the deposits in California were discovered in the 1860s. Originally, the borax was removed from these deposits using mule teams, hence the name 20-mule team borax. [Pg.189]

B2O3, which melts at 450°C and dissolves many metal oxides, is used as a flux for soldering or welding. It is also used in the manufacture of fiberglass and borosilicate glass, such as Pyrex. [Pg.180]

Use Sand-casting of aluminum and magnesium grinding aid in resinoid grinding wheels flux for soldering and brazing , electrochemical processes and chemical research. [Pg.1030]

USE Has been proposed as a flux for soldering and brazing filler in resin-bonded grinding wheels. [Pg.1218]

NH4Cl(s) NH3(g) + HCl(g) Ammonium chloride is used in galvanizing, as a flux for soldering, in dyeing and calico printing, and in the manufacture of Leclanche and dry cells. [Pg.17]
