Variations of this MCR have been successfully used for the preparation of a wide variety of 1-substituted tetrazoles. For instance, by reaction of 2-iodoaniline, sodium azide, and triethyl orthoformate in acetic acid (reflux, 6h), l-(2-iodophenyl)-l//-tetrazolc was obtained <2004TL4113>. Under similar conditions, from (l-fluoroethyl)amine, (l-bromoethyl)amine, and (l-iodoethyl)amine, the corresponding 1-ethyltetrazoles were obtained in 20-60% yields <2003EJI2273>, 1-cyclopropyltetrazole was prepared <2005JCR421>, and from 1,3-phenylenediamine 1,3-pheny-lene-bis-1 //-tetrazole 513 was synthesized (Equation 98) <1995TL1759, 2004SL2227>. [Pg.376]

Regioselective acylations of polyhydroxylated compounds such as carbohydrates, glycerols, steroids, or alkaloids have been carried out with lipases, esterases, and proteases [13, 20]. One example is the Candida antartica lipase (immobilized on acrylic resin) catalyzed monoacylation of the signalling steroid ectysone (1) giving selectively the 2-C)-acetate 2 (eq. (1)). Using vinyl acetate for this transesterification the reaction was irreversibly pushed to the product side, since the liberated enol instantaneously isomerizes to acetaldehyde [21]. The sometimes unfavorable aldehyde is avoided when 1-ethoxyvinyl acetates [22], trichloro- or -fluoroethyl esters [23 a, b], oxime esters [23 c] or thioesters [23 d] are employed for the quasi-irreversible reaction courses. [Pg.873]

Resolution by transesterification. Using vinylic acetates to esterify allyl alcohols, propargyl alcohols, 2-phenylthiocycloalkanols, a-hydroxy esters," methyl 5-hydroxy-2-hexenoates, and 2-substituted 1,3-propanediols, the enantioselective esterification provides a means of separation of optical isomers. Vinyl carbonates are also resolved by lipase-mediated enantioselective conversion to benzyl carbonates. Other esters that have also been used in the kinetic resolution include 2,2,2-tri-fluoroethyl propionate. There is a report on a double enantioselective transesterification" of racemic trifluoroethyl esters and cyclic meso-diols by lipase catalysis. [Pg.203]

Di 2 fluoroethyl phosphorofluoridate (XVIII) was prepared with the idea of combining the toxic principles of the fluoro-acetates and of the phosphorofluoridates. It was readily obtained by the action of phosphorus oxydichlorofluoride on... [Pg.15]

In view of the fact that fluoroethanol is as toxic as methyl fluoroacetate (or as fluoroacetic acid), it seemed worth while preparing a compound in which the active parts of these molecules were combined, in the hope of obtaining a compound of increased potency. Such a compound is 2-fluoroethyl fluoro-acetate, first prepared and described by us in 1943. This ester was readily prepared by the action of fluoroacetyl chloride on fluoroethanol. It is a stable, mobile hquid possessing an extremely faint odour. [Pg.129]
