The more detailed treatment of the enhancement of Raman, resonance Raman scattering and fluorescence firom molecules adsorbed on identical, well-characterised, silver-island films was made by Nitzan and co-workers [7]. They presented a unified picture of the electromagnetic interactions in these inelastic scattering processes and established that there is a hierarchy of the enhancement phenomena.
