Flash Profile as a reference methodology

Flash Profile has become our internal methodological reference for sensory descriptive analysis, and we use it in a diversity of situations requiring descriptive sensory analysis. 

It can be of great help for explorative studies on a new or not-well known product category. In this case we will focus on the development of a specific sensory 

For most of our projects linked to new product development, we want to investigate in detail the sensory proximities/differences perceived between samples. For this objective, we usually rely on sensory maps obtained from Hash Profile. After the judges have ranked the products on each of their selected descriptors, the sensory map is obtained by generalized Procrustean analysis (GPA) (Gower, 1975). Depending on the objective of the study, we can use the descriptive sensory map to compare several prototypes to an internal reference, or to compare several competitor samples to our own products for benchmarking.
