Flash photolysis of Mn

Ford and co-workers studied the flash photolysis of Mn(CO)j(CHj) at 308 nm in hydrocarbons and THF. They found that the solvent reacts with the transient Mn(CO)4(CH3) to give cis-Mn(CO)4(CH3XSolvent) about SxlO faster than it reacts with CO to give reactant. The solvento complexes with C H,2 and THF have rate constants for their reactions with CO of 2x10 and 1.4x10 s", respectively. More recent work has...
