Fitness of a Balance for Its Application

To select an appropriate balance for a given application, one needs to answer two basic questions  

Sample den.sity /, g/cnr Weight at sea level g Weight in Denver W,. g Difference (Wn-WsVWs, % 

W sample weight, defined in terms of the counterbalancing steel mass 

D density of the mass standard, normally 8 g/cm d density of the sample, g/cnr k weight-to-mass conversion ratio for the sample 

According to this expression, there are two cases in which sample mass equals sample weight (A = 1) at zero air density (vacuum), or if the sample density cl equals the density D of the mass standard.
