Ceramic wire gauze, crucible tongs, glass rod, spatula, two small glass vessels (5-mL and 25-mL), filter paper, safety glasses, protective gloves. [Pg.29]

The contents oi the two vessels are carefully mixed on a piece of filter paper (avoid friction ) and formed into a cone. The reaction is if niied by one or two small ice cubes, which are carefully placed on the cone using the crucible tongs. After a few seconds a pale green jet of spark-emitting flame (barium ) shoots up from the cone (colored figure 6). [Pg.30]
