Finishing chemicals extractive tests

Articles used in potable water applications such as tubing are often approved under the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approvals such as NSF 61. Several plasticizers, including both DINP and DIDP, have been approved for use here under the NSF toxicity and analyses programs, provided that defined levels of extractability are not exceeded. In these tests, the finished articles are placed in water for the prescribed time periods and the water is analyzed for extractable components. Any detected chemical is measured against its defined toxicity profile. [Pg.229]
