Filing and Prosecution of the Application

The procedure for acquiring a patent is broadly similar in most countries. In the UK the procedure has the following steps [C-27]. 

The application for a patent must contain the request for the grant of a patent, the specification, the claim(s), the abstract and the filing fee. 

In most companies the process for filing a patent application involves the filling in of inventorship forms by the inventors. There will normally be two forms.
