Ferrite specific compounds

Five aspects of the preparation of solids can be distinguished (i) preparation of a series of compounds in order to investigate a specific property, as exemplified by a series of perovskite oxides to examine their electrical properties or by a series of spinel ferrites to screen their magnetic properties (ii) preparation of unknown members of a structurally related class of solids to extend (or extrapolate) structure-property relations, as exemplified by the synthesis of layered chalcogenides and their intercalates or derivatives of TTF-TCNQ to study their superconductivity (iii) synthesis of a new class of compounds (e.g. sialons, (Si, Al)3(0, N)4, or doped polyacetylenes), with novel structural properties (iv) preparation of known solids of prescribed specifications (crystallinity, shape, purity, etc.) as in the case of crystals of Si, III-V compounds and... [Pg.122]

In conclusion, TiB2 is an excellent hard compound for continuous cutting operations already matching or surpassing conventional tool materials in applications where limited temperature loads evolve. Specifically, ferritic binders perform well in the cutting of cast A1 alloys and cast iron. TiB2 austenite cermets do show potential for the cutting of steel, but as yet they cannot match the exceptional performance of Ti(C,N) cermets. [Pg.931]

When two generalized solid oxides, AO and B2O3, react to the spinel AB2O4, the atoms move from the solid reactant lattices to the sites of the solid product. The ions A and B can be any main group or transition metal ions. As a specific example these are here taken to be CoO and Fe203, which form only one compound, cobalt ferrite (CoFe204). The marker wires end up somewhere in the spinel area or on the boundary of this phase, depending on how fast the ions of the two reactants are able to diffuse.
