The ordering pattern of oxygen vacancies found in browmnillerite, resulting in chains of apex-linked tetrahedra, can be supplemented by arrangements in which the coordination polyhedra formed are BO square pyramids. There are large numbers of these stmctures known within the manganites, ferrites and cobaltites, and only representative examples are illustrated here. [Pg.69]

A number of structures exist which are not directly related to calcium ferrite but which consists of similar coordination polyhedra. The first of these is the RMn20j structure type shown in fig. 28.51. This structure has been found for R = La through Lu by Quezel-Ambrunaz et al. (1964).
