Extrusion Equipment for Reactive Blending

Figure 7.29 shows a hybridized reactive extrusion and molding system, that is, the combination of an intermeshed twin screw extruder and forming equipment, such as injection molding, film making, etc. Experimental results that have been carried out for PP-PA-PPE ternary blending system are shown in Fig. 7.30. If this hybridized system is used, one can obtain a product with higher physical properties than conventional ones. Furthermore, this system can be fitted with an on-line monitoring device for die evaluation of physical properties of polymer alloys as shown in Fig. 7.31. The potential for a new type of production line for new polymer composites can be envisioned [46-51].
