Explosifs N or du type N, also known as Explosifs nitrates (Nitrate Explosives). Fr mining expls contg AN. They can be non-permissible and permissible. Accdg to Marshall, Vol 1(1917), 389, they are also known as Grisounites. They can be either eouche (See Explosifs couche) or roche (See Explosifs roche)... 

Explosifs NR, Explosifs du type NR or Explosifs nitrates resistant 6 leau (Nitrate Explosives Resistant to Water). In order to render some AN mining expls resistant to water and to prevent caking of AN particles, Medard (Ref 1) and LeRoux (Ref 2), suggested coating of expl mixtures with small amts (0.5-1.0%) of Ca stearate. The use of this substance in expls was first proposed in 1896 by G.
