Experimental Methods for Measurement of Particle-Surface Adhesion

Experimental Methods for Measurement of Particle-Surface Adhesion [Pg.392]

One has to measure the force required to remove the partide from the substrate 11.16.2.1 Centrifugal Method (Krupp, 1967) [Pg.392]

The centrifugal force required to remove a partide is given by the expression [43] [Pg.392]

To remove small particles from substrates one needs to apply very high g values (as high as 10 ). Thus this method has little practical application. [Pg.392]

A rotating cylinder apparatus is used and after the partides are deposited on the inner cylinder, the speed is increased [44]. The % detachment is measured (microscopically) as a function of the speed of rotation. The hydrodynamic force required to remove 50% of the particles is taken as a measure of the force of [Pg.392]
