Experiment 9.4 VO acac 2 Catalyzed Epoxidation of Geraniol

EXPERIMENT 9.4 VO(acac)2 CATALYZED EPOXIDATION OF GERANIOL USING f-BuOOH 

In this experiment we will study the epoxidation of the olefin geraniol with f-BuOOH using VO(acac)2 as a catalyst. This work mimics that of Sharpless and Michaelson, and is a forerunner to the Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation reported 7 years later. 

097 ppm shifts into the 2.5-3.0ppm range. If the diepoxide is formed, one can expect the loss of both olefinic hydrogen signals as well as two peaks in the range 2.5-3.0.
