Exhibition fireworks

Lance-vork is so popular that it readily comes to mind when we think of exhibition fireworks. The technique creates lines of fire by the linear arrangement of lances at short interrals. The technique is used to produce a portrait, a scene, letters etc. as it comes under the heading of illuminations. [Pg.266]

B) includes noise compositions which are quite sensitive and snake compositions which exhibit curious phenomena, etc. It can be seen from the diagram that toy firework compositions, (A+B), are more numerous than those for ordinary fireworks (A). The reason is that, in the case of toy fireworks it is possible to increase the safety of the compositions to a high degree by complete division and isolation. Following this principle even some sensitive compositions which are never used for shells, exhibition fireworks etc. can be used for toy fireworks. For example, a composition which contains potassium chlorate and red phosphorus is used for pistol caps or another compositon which contains potassium chlorate and realgar is used for cracker balls. These compositions are generally used only for toy fireworks. [Pg.274]

The exhibition fireworks produce a large quantity of fire dust sparks as described above and the shells have a large quantity of explosives these must therefore be separated from each other. [Pg.313]

While GOLum project topics vary widely, one shared characteristic required of every project is that it must have a potentially sustainable impact beyond the team s presentation. Too often, outreach presentations become like fireworks exhibitions that are brilliant to behold but quickly fade into memory. To prevent this from happening, each team must develop ways to ensure that its project continues to be useful after its formal presentation. For example, GOLum presentations to high-school chemistry classes have provided host chemistry teachers with resource materials related to the presentations so that the teachers... [Pg.161]

The alternative to such exhibits might be a thematic exhibition. In 1998, the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney had an exhibition called Chemical Attractions which featured sub-themes including chocolate , fragrance , and colour in fireworks . Its purpose was all embracing, to ... [Pg.159]

The presence of intense lines in the spectra of a number of metals is the basis for flame tests, simple tests used to identify elements in ionic compounds in the absence of a precise analysis of a compound s spectrum. For example, the emission spectrum of sodium features two closely spaced, bright yellow lines. When a crystal of a sodium salt (or a drop of a solution containing a sodium salt) is put into a flame, the flame glows bright yellow (Figure 7.14 ). As Figure 7.14 shows, other metals exhibit similarly characteristic colors in flame tests. Each color represents an especially bright spectral emission line (or a combination of two or more such lines). Similar emissions form the basis of the colors seen in fireworks. [Pg.308]
