Examples of the Proposed Nomenclature

In the following the several systems of nomenclature, where they exist, will be compared to the proposed system. A series of examples of increasing complexity will be given and each of the proposed elements and/or binary operations briefly discussed. [Pg.40]

Homopolymers. Homopolymers are designated by the element P. When used alone, subscript numbers are not required, but the subscripting yields greater clarity for the general case  [Pg.40]

Alternating Copolymers. These materials are designated by the element A and require two numerical subscripts, one for each mer. [Pg.40]

Note Homopolymers, alternating polymers, and random copolymers are adequately named by the process-based nomenclature already in existence. The proposed nomenclature is given to show the generality of the system, for completeness. [Pg.40]

Block Polymers. A diblock polymer has the general structure [Pg.40]
