Other examples of excited-state processes include energy transfa, solvent telaxadm, and formation of excited-state congilexes (Ihble 18.1). The shared characteristic of all these phenomena is die involvement of an excited-state species which is not excited direcdy but is formed from the initially excited species. Dqiending on the magnitude of die spectral shift due to die excited-state process, it may or may not be possible to observe the reacdmi product without a spectral contribution from the initially excited species.
