EXAMPLES OF AQUEOUS BIPHASIC CATALYSIS

The RCH/RP process converts propylene to n- and Lo-butyraldehydes (or butenes to valeraldehydes) in the presence [HRh(CO)(TPPTS)] (with TPPTS = tris[sodium-m-sulfonatophcnvl phosphine as water soluble ligand) according to Equation 5.1. 

The process is highly effective and, as the process data illustrate, represents an economic advantage as well (cf. Section 5.3.3). In ecological terms, the RCH/RP process also provides a considerable improvement (Section 5.3.4) over conventional methodologies.
