Energy Transfer to Atoms

For Ar( Fo) + Kr, the highest available level, 5p[i]o (A = 460 cm ) is only weakly populated and the major channel has not been identified. 

Near-resonant energy transfer channek also appear to be favoured in the reactions of He(2 A) with Ne. Ar -t- Cl, however, leads to population of a range of levels of O (see Table 10), of which the most favoured, and are relatively low-lying with A = 21000 and 19000cm respectivdy. In this case, the entrance diann, -H O, tross the ionic surface, 

Ar + 0, at very large intemuclear distances, at whidi an electron jump is unlikely to occur approach is probably along the covalent states, with curve-crossings at small atom separations.
