Energy Change for Binding on First and Second Sites

Energy Change for Binding on First and Second Sites [Pg.141]

We define the energy changes for the processes described in (3.3.37) and (3.3.43), i.e., the process of bringing G from a fixed position in the vacuum onto a specific empty site. For the first site this is [Pg.141]

Some care must be exercised in the interpretation of the various averages in (3.3.78). In (3.3.52) we had an average of the form [Pg.141]

In this case Ua is the binding energy on the subunit that is occupied. This is different from the average [Pg.141]

The energy change for the second site is obtained from (3.3.44). [Pg.142]
