Effects of Thiamin Deficiency on Neurotransmitters

As noted in Section 6.3.1.3, brtdn GABA falls in thitunin deficiency, but there is increased flux through the GABA shunt. The chrmges in the cerebellum occur early, and asymptomatic animtds tne more sensitive than normtd to the GABA antagonist picrotoxin. Brain concentrations of glutamate and aspartate eue also reduced in thitimin deficiency, tis are severed other neurotransmitters.
