ECL Cell Design

In order to reduce the labor work of sample pre-treatment, a rapid and sensitive approach for the detection of reserpine in urine (over the range of 1 x 10 to 1 x 10 mol L with a correlation coefficient of 0.996) was introduced. This method uses MEKC coupled with Ru(bpy)3 ECL where the sample was analyzed directly. The proposed method uses a 25 pm i.d. capillary as separation column and the ECL detector lacks an electric field decoupler. Field-amplified injection lessens the effect of ionic strength in the sample, increasing the ECL efficiency [21]. The distance of capillary to electrode was also an important parameter for optimizing detection performance as it determined the characteristics of mass transport toward the electrode and the actual concentration of Ru(bpy)3 in the [Pg.69]

Ming Li and Sang Hak Lee have reported a CE system integrated with ECL method in the absence of an electric field decoupler for the determination of tri-methylamine (TMA) in fish. ECL from the reaction of analyte and in sim generated Ru(bpy)3 at electrode surface could be produced in the presence of TMA. For ECL detection, a Pt working electrode biased at 1.23 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) potential was employed in a 10 mmol L sodium borate buffer solution, pH 9.2, [Pg.70]

An instrument with an improved design was introduced later. In this design, the electrophoretic and the electrochemical current were separated by an on-column [Pg.71]
