Dynamic Polymer Effects in Polarized Luminescence

The rotation of the oscillator in a himinescent marker inserted into the polymer chain is always accon anied by a complex translational and rotational motion of chain segments adjoining it. The main task of the theory is to take into account the polymer effects proper in PL. This problem has been considered by several authors including the authors of this review. [Pg.53]

The theory describing the effect of various factors of short-range interactions alor the chain on local relaxation properties is more developed and may help to explain the experimental data. [Pg.53]

Experimental investigation of the PL of labeled macromolecules in solvents of various thermodynamic strengths (good or 6-solvents) reveal that IMM strongly depends on the extent of swelling of macromolecules These facts and [Pg.53]

The dependence of l/P(or F) on T/t at low values of T/tj observed experimentally 40, 48,57) permits the investigation of hi frequency twisting or bending motions for which the characteristic times (periods and decay times) are small as compared to Tf. To evaluate the amplitudes of these motions, a theory of hi frequency motions compatible with frozen chain conformation (when the times of segmental nrotion are still long as com mred to Tf) was developed by Anufrieva, Gotlib et al. [Pg.53]

The majority of existing theories can neither determine precisely the size and the microstructure of kinetic units in a polymer chain of a given chemical structure nor rigorously predict the mechanisms and the kinetics of conformational transitions. In these theories, the properties of kinetic units are postulated and the aim of the theory is to study the effects resulting from the linking of these units into the chain. [Pg.53]
