Dusted meals

Megerkraut, n. yellow bedstraw (GaHum verum). Mehl, n. meal flour dust, powder, mehlartig, a. like meal or flour, farinaceous. Mehl-beere, /. haw. -beutel, m. bolter, sifter. 

The alfalfa hay used in making the mashes in this experiment was from the same field as that described by Harris et al. (1, 8). This alfalfa was dusted with 0, 1, 2, and 4 pounds of technical DDT per acre, which was approximately the same amount used by hay producers. The harvested hay was ground into meal and a mash was made for laying hens, containing 15% alfalfa meal. DDT was also added to mash made from untreated alfalfa meal at levels of 0, 50, 100, and 200 p.p.m. to determine a possible margin of safety for feeding DDT-treated alfalfa.

Corning Mill Dust. This is also called meal powder, or by the Fr pulverin. Corning mill dust is the finest and the most intimately incorporated BkPdr dust remaining in the mill after the "corning" or granulating operations. Various types of machines are used to manuf granulate BlkPdr, such as "Wheel Mill "Stamp Mill" illustrated by Davis (Ref 2), and "Corning Machines" illustrated by Marshall (Ref 1)... 

Corning meal dust is used in the manuf of fireworks fuse powers. For certain purposes, some manufacturers find it is superior to other kinds of meal powders... 

Figure 1 illustrates a typical particle size distribution of some feed mill pulp fractions. The distribution of wet press cake and dried pulp fractions were similar in that a fraction of the particles were about 1 mm with another fraction distributed in the 2 to 5 mm range (2). The major particle distributions of the meal and dust portions of the fines were below 1 mm.
