Drying operation hygroscopic plastic

The drying operation for non-hygroscopic plastics is different. They collect moisture only on the surface. Drying this surface moisture can... [Pg.32]

After alkaline cleaning, substrates are rinsed in water to remove all traces of the alkaline solution. The solution should not be allowed to dry on the part for cosmetic reasons or because it could result in a weak boundary layer in a painting or bonding operation. Some plastics are hygroscopic or absorb water, and a washing process, especially at elevated temperatures, could degrade the properties of the plastic. These plastics include nylons, ABS, polycarbonate, and thermoplastic polyesters. [Pg.94]

IM process. Important in practically aU operations are factors such as using unworn screws and properly dried plastics. Special dryers vented barrels are required in drying the TP hygroscopic materials (such as PC, PMMA, PUR, PET). [Pg.63]
