Doering reaction dichlorocarbene addition

Moss and co-workers have also examined the effect of 18-crown-6 on addition of dibromocarbene to alkenes. Curiously enough this crown ether usually has no effect on the reaction. They also report that, contrary to original statements of Doering and Henderson, dibromocarbene resembles dichlorocarbene in relative reactivity to alkenes. [Pg.136]
