The vacuum UV photochemistry of the allyl radical, generated by flash pyrolysis, has been investigated in a study using synchrotron radiation, in which mass spectra recorded over a wide energy range showed the appearance of the C3H3+ fragment from dissociative photoionization above 10 eV. ... 

The fluorescence intensity of the H2 Lyman bands (5xStt+ - 4S +), excited by 106.6 nm radiation, was shown to be linearly dependent upon H2 pressure for pressures < 10-3 Torr, as is the case for naturally abundant HD.251 Fluorescence may thus be used as a monitor for these species, and the emission has been observed arising from solar excitation of exhaust gases from H2 fuel cells in the Apollo 17 spacecraft.882 The lifetime of the 3S0+ state of H2 has been measured as 10.5 ns.253 The photoionization and dissociative photoionization of H2, D2, and HD have been reported.854 The flash photolysis of H2-F2-He mixtures,255 the H2 vacuum-u.v. laser,255 and the yield of atomic hydrogen in the combustion of CH4-air and H2-air mixtures 257 have been reported.

A similar study found that Ar (w>2) ions produced in a supersonic expansion of argon originated exclusively by dissociative photoionization from higher-order clusters. Only in the case of Ar2 could ions of that mass be produced without the accompanying dissociation. This was obvious from the broad peak widths, which showed no evidence of any narrow components for Ar " other than for n=l.
